PET Resin

PET resin is a copolymer produced from terephthalic acid (PTA), isophthalic acid (IPA), and ethylene glycol (EG) raw materials.

With its new MTR (Melt to Resin) plant, commissioned in 2020 with a capacity of 315 kt/year, SASA has added bottle-type PET Resin to its product portfolio. Bottle-type PET Resin production, thanks to MTR technology, achieves the desired high viscosity product in a single-stage process, unlike the traditional two-stage method.

Advantages

SASA PET Resin is a high-performance, user-friendly product thanks to its MTR (Melt to Resin) production technology. After polymerization, the chips are granulated in underwater chip cutting units and take on a spherical form. This spherical form offers users several advantages, such as:

  • • Low energy consumption, low carbon emissions.
  • • Low dust content
  • • Homogeneous IV distribution
  • • Low acetaldehyde formation
  • • Easier flow and less dust formation compared to cylindrical form.
Main Areas of Application
  • • PET bottles; Carbonated and still mineral waters, non-alcoholic beverages, oils
  • • PET containers are used for food, detergents, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
  • • PET Thermoforms
  • • PET Sheets
